About the role

A leading digital assets and fintech organisation is seeking a Compliance Officer to join its global compliance team. This is a fully autonomous, hands-on role designed for a compliance professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and is confident making decisions independently.
You will be responsible for managing AML/CFT and sanctions-related activities from day one, using blockchain monitoring and KYC/KYB tools to assess risk, investigate cases, and ensure regulatory obligations are met. Beyond day-to-day case handling, you will have the opportunity to identify improvements, optimise processes, and contribute to the evolution of the compliance function.
This is not a support or coordination role. It is suited to someone who takes ownership, exercises sound judgment, and sees compliance as an enabler of sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently manage AML, sanctions, and compliance cases within your assigned scope.
Conduct customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), and corporate onboarding reviews.
Perform sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and suspicious activity escalations.
Use blockchain monitoring tools and KYC/KYB verification platforms as part of daily operations.
Identify and investigate unusual activity, applying risk-based decision-making.
Review and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and internal documentation.
Collaborate closely with Sales, Fraud, Legal, Operations, and Customer Support teams.
Escalate concerns appropriately while maintaining ownership of case outcomes.
From month six onwards, recommend improvements to processes, automation, and operational efficiency.
Contribute to reducing backlogs and improving service delivery standards.
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of AML, compliance, or risk management experience within a regulated financial services environment.
Experience within cryptocurrency, fintech, blockchain, or digital asset businesses is strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of AML/CFT requirements, sanctions obligations, and European regulatory frameworks, including MiCA, AMLD, Travel Rule, and PSD2.
Hands-on experience using blockchain analytics and KYC/KYB verification tools.
Direct experience conducting customer risk assessments and applying risk-based approaches.
Strong analytical and investigative capabilities.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
Preferred Experience:
Exposure to multiple jurisdictions including the UK, North America, Australia, or other international markets.
Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, or equivalent.
Experience in scale-up or high-growth environments.
Knowledge of operational process optimisation and automation initiatives.
Ideal Candidate:
Takes ownership of responsibilities without requiring close supervision.
Thinks critically and connects patterns across transactions and customer activity.
Balances regulatory obligations with practical business considerations.
Communicates effectively with both compliance and non-compliance stakeholders.
Adapts quickly to change and performs well in dynamic environments.
Continuously seeks opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
Growth Opportunity:
Gain exposure to global compliance operations within a regulated digital assets environment.
Work cross-functionally with key business stakeholders.
Contribute to the evolution and optimisation of the compliance function.
Develop expertise in blockchain analytics, crypto compliance, and emerging regulatory frameworks.
