A proprietary trading firm specialising in digital asset markets is seeking a Chief Technology Officer / Head of Trading Engineering to lead the next evolution of its trading infrastructure.
This is a founding-level technical leadership opportunity for an experienced engineering leader with a deep understanding of low-latency systems, algorithmic trading infrastructure, and crypto market structure. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping the firm's technical vision, assessing existing systems, and building the foundations required to support continued growth and performance.
Working closely with trading and leadership teams, you will drive architectural decisions, improve execution capabilities, and lead a multidisciplinary engineering function focused on delivering robust, high-performance trading technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess and evaluate the firm's existing trading infrastructure and identify opportunities for improvement.
Define the long-term technical strategy and architecture for trading systems.
Determine what should be optimised, refactored, or rebuilt to maximise performance and reliability.
Own the execution architecture, exchange connectivity, and system resilience of the trading platform.
Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams across backend, frontend, and infrastructure disciplines.
Partner closely with trading teams to transform strategic concepts into production-ready systems.
Establish engineering standards covering deployment, monitoring, testing, and incident response.
Improve operational excellence, observability, and system reliability across the trading stack.
Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of experience within cryptocurrency market-making, proprietary trading, high-frequency trading, or equivalent environments.
Deep hands-on experience building and operating low-latency trading systems.
Direct experience developing cross-exchange arbitrage and/or market-making infrastructure.
Strong proficiency in Rust and/or Go.
Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and technical delivery.
Strong understanding of trading system design, exchange integrations, and performance optimisation.
Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical decision-making.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Fluent English communication skills.
Preferred Experience:
C++ experience within latency-sensitive environments.
Python experience for research, tooling, or backtesting applications.
Experience designing monitoring, alerting, and incident response frameworks.
Knowledge of both spot and derivatives trading environments, including futures and perpetual products.
Background within proprietary trading firms, market makers, or high-performance financial technology organisations.
Turkish language proficiency.
