Key Responsibilities

• Design and build customer-facing web applications, dashboards, and workflow interfaces.

• Translate complex platform capabilities into intuitive product experiences.

• Develop interfaces that support real-time updates, streaming results, comparisons, and graceful handling of partial failures.

• Build scalable frontend architecture with performance, accessibility, observability, and component design as core priorities.

• Partner with platform engineers, physicists, researchers, and future product managers to shape product direction and user experience.

• Take ownership of product features from initial concept through design, development, deployment, and iteration.

• Contribute to the technical direction and engineering standards of an early-stage product organisation.

Required Experience and Skills

• 4–6 years of experience building production-grade, user-facing products at companies recognised for engineering and product excellence.

• Experience delivering polished customer-facing products rather than internal-only tools.

• Deep expertise in TypeScript and React or comparable modern frontend frameworks.

• Strong knowledge of frontend architecture, state management, and performance optimisation.

• Strong product and design instincts, with the ability to work independently.

• Experience working across APIs, backend integrations, real-time systems, and streaming data.

• Experience building resilient user experiences that handle failures and incomplete results effectively.

• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Bonus Skills

• Experience with Figma, prototyping, and design systems.

• Background in scientific computing, developer tools, research platforms, or other highly technical products.

• Experience as an early Product Engineering hire within a startup.

• Open-source contributions to frontend frameworks, component libraries, or design systems.
